Through the support of Clapton Commons a group of mothers from the local primary school now meet weekly to support one another and reach out across the neighbourhood.

One way they do this is to visit a local retirement community and run activities with the residents – from games to cooking to dancing. Their children love to coax the senior citizens into all sorts of playful mischief. And the pleasure is mutual.

Friends of Clapton organiser, Khadra, says: “whether you’ve got a housing problem, a relationship problem, a children problem or a school problem, everyone’s got problems. But this group will open doors for a lot of people to interact... that’s why we’ve started this project.”

How can I get involved?
